Where do you come from?
I was born and partly raised in Honolulu, Hawai’i and partly in Heidelberg, Germany.
Where did you go to school?
I studied cultural anthropology and art history at the Freie Universitaet Berlin (MA) and got my Master of Divinity at PLTS (Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary).
What did you do before you became a pastor?
I worked as a director at various German theaters; I promoted Hawaiian dance and culture through Ka ‘Imi Naau’ao O Hawai’I Nei in Berlin, Germany; I taught German at various German Schools in the Bay Area, California; and I worked in the archives of PLTS and the Sierra Pacific Synod.
What about your family?
I am married to Rev. Olaf Baumann, who is also my partner in ministry. We have one daughter, Anna, and one Portuguese Waterdog, Shadow.
What do you do when you’re not at church?
I love hiking, reading, museums, and being with my family.
