Noah Smith, BMus
Director of Music Ministries
Noah Smith graduated in 2015 with a bachelor’s of music in Organ Performance from Utah State University, and became Minister of Music at First Church of Christ, Congregational in Suffield, Connecticut in October 2015, where they served until 2021. Noah currently holds the position of Director for Music Ministry at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Angeles, WA. Along with organ, Noah also performs harpsichord and continuo and has worked with Yale and Wesleyan ensembles.
Alongside performance and conducting, Noah’s compositions Brief Blue Frosts, Tripych for Choir, Aprils, And The Tablets Breaking, and Four Chorale Preludes feature diverse styles and are written for combinations of Vocal Ensemble, Cello, Bells, and Organ. In 2019 Noah released Suddenness, a symphonic song-cycle composed in collaboration with guitarist Garrett Fry under the group name SVELT- available on Spotify, Tidal, Apple Music, Bandcamp, and most streaming platforms. Noah’s most recent work Night Sweats is commissioned by the New Haven Mayor’s Task Force on AIDS, the New Haven Pride Center. and the Guardian Health Association, is a work which bridges poetry, music, visual arts, and body movement “It is a single, richly layered interpretation that demands multiple views, new layers of meaning exposed each time.” -Arts Council of Greater New Haven
In their spare time Noah enjoys cooking, reading, hiking, and making electronic music.
