Americans Do What Is Right In The End – Mark 6:1-13
Here is a quote attributed to Winston Churchill. He supposedly said that the Americans will always do what is right, – after they have exhausted all other possibilities. I agree. In the end, Americans will always do what is right. And throughout the centuries following our independence, we spent a lot of time exhausting all other possibilities, and we’re not finished yet exploring those dark alleys. That worries me, and yet, I am convinced we will do the right thing in the end. One of the fundamental insights of the Lutheran Reformation was that we do not retreat from the messiness of life. Christ calls us to live lives worthy of the gospel. We are saved by grace and we are called, equipped, and sent into the world. We are sent to get our hands dirty. So, don’t be afraid. God bless you all, God bless the nations, and God bless the United States of America.
