Holy Places

Holy Places – Exodus 19, Luke 9:28-36

Season of Creation, Mountain Sunday

It is the collective experience of humanity that there are places where the presence of God can be felt more profoundly than in other places. These places are not just used once by one culture and then forgotten. Most of these places continue to be used, despite those cultures, time and people change. The temple mount in Jerusalem is one of those places. – Holy to all Abrahamic faiths and to the cultures that came before that. In the Near East, these holy sites can include traces of prehistoric religions, followed by Egyptians, Hebrews and Romans, Christians, Moslems and New Age people who spiritually charge their crystals at that very same location. Today’s readings explore some holy mountains in the bible.
