Nobody is Perfect!
Sermon series on the Letter of James; 1 of 4
Life is not perfect; we are not perfect; perfection is not what Christian living is about. Faith is a journey, and the foundation of Christian discipleship is faith in God. The wisdom we need to embark on this journey comes from God. It’s God’s wisdom, not ours. Every generous act of giving, with every perfect gift, is from above, coming down from the Father of lights (James 1:17). And therefore we shall not seek within ourselves the wisdom and goodness, which comes from God, and, in the same line of thought, we shall not blame God for our own wrongdoings. Perfection doesn’t make you a disciple, but the wisdom to know what is God’s will, what is your will, and to clearly see the difference between the two, so that you can follow God’s will, and not your own or someone else’s, that is at the core of discipleship.
