The Power of Prayer?
Sermon series on the Letter of James. 4 of 4.
In prayer, we strengthen our relationship with God and also with each other. While understandable, especially with little children, that we ask God for things we want to have, wish fulfillment is not at the core of prayer. We are not trying to persuade God to act according to our will, we are trying to open ourselves up to God, so that God may transform us according to God’s will. If we get caught up in praying to God for perfect solutions or perfect lives, we set ourselves up for failure! Because Christian living is neither about perfection, nor about self-importance. Prayer is meant to help us connect with God, not to make us more important, but to make God more important in our lives.
